What does Scout learn in to Kill a Mockingbird

             In to Kill a Mocking Bird, Scout learns many things. We meet Scout and her character when she is aged 6. She has grown living with a prejudice of Negro's, she has an impulsive character, she says things inappropriately. She has a short temper and is unaware of these problems and unaware of her character. As she progresses, she matures, she grows and soon learns different things from the ever present mentors and guides. She learns more about her town and the people in it, prejudice, empathy, courage, she notices problems in herself and is taught the most important lesson that it is a sin to kill a mocking bird. Scout learns the facts of life and the rudiments she needs to progress in life. She demonstrates this when she remarks "there wasn't much for us to learn except possibly algebra".
             In the book scout learns and undeniably important lesson of prejudice. Scout begins in the book as a girl with a prejudice towards blacks; she has got this from the white people of the town. She is used to the white people speaking badly about a black person or acting unfairly against them. Scout has grown up with the thought that this is acceptable and normal. Many different crucial events in the story teach Scout that this is wrong.
             Not only does Scout begin with a prejudice of blacks she has a prejudice of the Cunninghams, remarking on page 27 "He ain't company, Cal, He's just a Cunnigham" which was just after she complained of Walter Cunnighams actions in her house. She learns that, a guest is a guest and she should respect her guest no matter who it is.
             Boo Radley is another prejudice she has, she believes that Boo Radley is "a malevolent phantom" who eats cats and peeps in peoples windows, she doesn't understand that she has prejudged him. But at the end she learns that Boo Radley is a fine man that is very heroic and he doesn't do what she believes.
             Her prejudice of blacks is changed through different event...
