Advertising: Tricks of the trade (Sex Appeal)
While reading "Seventeen" a magazine targeting youth, I was often oblivious to the fact that many of the articles, or products that caught my attention were not only accompanied by big lettering and loud colors but also by many other types of appeals that I had for so long over looked. Among the appeals that these magazines included, sex appeal was one of them. The portrayal of sex and sexual acts is evident in advertising not only by their often catchy phrases, but also by an image of either male or female personas concentrating on specific parts of the body, depending on what product they are trying to market. The marketing technique also includes the use of body image and recent trends to target the younger audiences.Advertising is everywhere now days. We see advertising in television, t-shirts, newspapers, the sides of busses, billboards and magazines. With the vast amount of advertising that there is out there, companies are often trying to find new and distinct ways to promote their product. Often, the product that they want to advertise is placed within reach of the prospect customers, -the target consumer. With all of the advertising, there are only so many things that a vendor can do to attract the attention of the mass
