Neil killed himself.........
When Mr. Keating stood upon his desk he said a quote that everyone took in except Neil. He said "I stand up here to remind myself that we must constantly look at things in a different way". Neil never understood that his father only wanted what was best for him. Instead he saw a monster that didn't care about how he felt. He did think about this though to himself, others and Mr. Keating. However he was never able to express himself to his father. Really the only time where did stand up for himself was while he was doing the play and asking for forgiveness. He had many opportunities to sort out there problems but he never took them. "I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately, I wanted to live deep and suck all the marrow out of life". That's why he went behind his fathers back to do the play. Neil could have said "Well I want to do this" but instead said "Well you know me I'm always doing too much". Keating is not responsible for Neil's death. Neil however, never used these words. Keating told Neil to talk to his father after his father said he was to quit the play. This line in the movie opened a lot of doors for everyone. He had many opportunities to say how he felt to his father but always predicted he knew what he was going to say. All the boys took this to heart and beyond. "Words and ideas can change the world". Perry tells Neil to drop some extra-curricular activities.
