Is the Iraq war a just war?
In order to name a good example of a Just War, it must meet the requirements of the principles of a Just War. I will summarize the seven main points of these principles:1. A Just War can only be fought as a last resort. All other non-violent options must have been exhausted before an armed attack may be justified.2. A war is just, only if it was waged by a respectable or legitimate authority. A war cannot be justified if the reason for it are individuals or groups that are not considered to be a legitimate authority by their own country.3. A War can only be fought to redress a wrong suffered. An act of self-defense against an armed attack is always considered to be a just cause.4. A war can only be just if it is fought with a reasonable chance of success. Deaths and injury incurred in a hopeless cause are not morally justifiable.5. The ultimate goal of a just war is to

To justify his actions Bush also claimed that the United Nations has offered a total of 16 proposals to Iraq, usually aimed to incease the living standards of men, women and children, but were declinded by Hussein. In history there has not been one war that was considered to be completely just. The deaths of civilians are justified only if they are unavoidable victims of a deliberate attack on a military target. The fact that the USA would then take control of all oil stations and oil resources, was never discussed though. The war would have been considered to be a just war if all the above points were true. The way Bush explained his reasons of war, he made it sound as though the war was fought only for the good of the Iraqi people.
