Supernatural in macbeth
Macbeth is the last of William Shakespeare's four great tragedies, the others being Hamlet, King Lear and Othello. The play is about a normal solder that is told that he will become king, his ambition leads him to kill the king and he claims the throne. Soon Macbeth is being tortured for his crimes by his own mind, he finally finds himself alone as all the people followed him have perished. Macbeth's HallucinationsMacbeth sees ghost and images throughout the play. This act traumatised her and in doing so caused her own death by illness. She wanted Macbeth to look hospitable and honourable, but also to be a true man underneath, one that would fight and kill to become king. This darkness creates the atmosphere for the horrors that occur in the tragedy, which is seen by Duncan being killed at night and Banquo being killed in darkness, which is represented by he and Fleance entering with a torch and after Macbeth kills Duncan the world of darkness overwhelms the world of ordinary life. AtmosphereThroughout the whole of Shakespeare's play, the atmosphere is described as dull and gloomy. The witches create other natural forces, in addition to storms and darkness, which is seen when they cause wind in order to blow a sailor's ship to an island and leave him shipwrecked to suffer and die. Macbeth was a play when it first came out and as they showed the casting of this spell and the ingredients used most people had a sickening thought of how disgusting witches can really be. He began arguing that he is not alive and that he cannot speak because he is dead, in front of all the people, again it is his guilt that enables Macbeth to see Banquo. I believe that if the witches didn't tell Macbeths his future he would have still been a loyal man. Lady MacbethLady Macbeth was another evil presence in the story. Macbeth thought he had been killed, yet he was still able to see him. The storms made by the witches, consisting of heavy rains, lightning and thunder, cause darkness to lure over Scotland. Nature is an image brought up many times, in both physical and human aspects. There is not much sun light and because of the number of battles only rotten corps lies on the fields. This represents his weakness, being taken over control by your own mind.
