Intellectual Journey Theme
In step four "The Person in Society: Reconciliation and Transformation" out of the "The Intellectual Journey" book, edited by John V. Apczynski, there are five stories that we discussed in class with the same concept. The definition of reconciliation is getting two things to correspond with each other, in step four the two things are person and society. In this essay, I will argue that not every being is equal in society. There are several reasons why people in society are not equal; some examples would be racism, communism, and women/human rights. This thesis statement is relevant to me in my life. This year at St. Bonaventure I took sociology. It was a very interesting class, but there was one thing I learned that surprised me. My teacher comes from a family of teachers, his grandfather, father, and mother were all teachers. He learned from his parents that your first teacher can determine how you learn. In the lounge at elementary, middle, and high schools teachers talk about there students. They will tell your upcoming teacher all your characteristics, if you are smart, if you are a nice person, and how you act around the other people. This can cause teachers to go bias against certain students. This shows that n
There are two chapters in this section, in chapter one of the Pastoral it deals with "The dignity of the human Person" (265), which had sections of "Women and Men in the Image of God" (265), and "Sin" (266). And the other is the Proletarians who are, "the class of modern wage laborers who, having no means of production of their own, are reduced to selling their labor power in order to live" (253). Simone de Beauvoir writes the second story of step four titled "from The Second Sex". King felt there were just and unjust laws. The constitution is all about respect, if you follow the constitution and the church, then that is a definition of an upstanding citizen. In step four the first story is "The Consideration of God in His Image Reformed through the Gifts of Grace" written by Bonaventure. Women were working in factories and other hard labor jobs. Do you feel that in our society, our world, that everybody some day will be equal? Are we as human beings capable in doing such a huge thing? Could the world come together as one? . The short story was based on human rights and women equality. This is where communism came from, communism is a government that owns and controls all of society. What this means is in order to have a society were all people are equal, is for everyone to work together. These story I have presented support my thesis statement. Up until this time men are the ones who work, provided food, and shelter. Martin Luther wants racism to end, much like the short story written by Simone de Beauvoir, "from The Second Sex", instead of women rights it is dealing with human rights.
