             All through history, people have had many different perspectives to the verdict of abortion. Abortion is the medical procedure that ends a pregnancy. Some of the views that have impacted people are the different types of procedures, and the perspective of the situation.
             One outlook that people seem to have difficulty with is the procedures. Most procedures are done within the first trimester, because if later performed it may cause serious complications. Many people believe that the operations end up harming the women in the long run. Prior to 1973, when the U.S. laws restricted abortions, "women resorted by having abortions done by untrained people" ("Abortion"). Having untrained people practice abortions caused the women to die from infection and have risks to future pregnancies. Doctors have stated that "if you consider the maternal death rate, abortions are generally safer then childbirth" ("Abortion"). The only complications a woman may have are infection, excessive bleeding, perforation of the uterus, and complications from anesthesia, but complications are rare under professional conditions. Abortion is a life changing event with physical, emotional, and spiritual consequences. It is a serious thing that women or families have to be able to deal with, but there are people such as: pastors, clinics, social services or relatives families can go talk to. For some people these procedures will end up hurting the woman in the long run, but for others abortion is just a way of fixing something a woman or family can't handle.
             The main problem with abortion is the controversy over if it's right or wrong. Everyone in society seems to have an opinion on the matter, and there are laws constantly being passed and reviewed by federal and state agencies.
