On April 16, 1963 Martin Luther King wrote a letter where he justified breaking the laws of segregation. Martin Luther King always kept track and consistency. While he justified breaking the laws, he also pointed out some experiences that gave credibility to his writing; consequently he sounded very convincing. Martin Luther King might convince some people because he indicated that there are two types of laws, he mentioned an experience he had, and he explained the differences between the two laws that exist.

He said so because he was deny to protest, when protesting is one of our rights and no one can go to jail to perform something that is written and approved by the constitution. He explained how during a parade he got arrested while he was taking advantage of the first amendment (peaceful assembly and peaceful protest. Therefore one can conclude that laws are not always fair. "There are some instances when a law is just on its face and unjust in its application. " King strongly agrees with Saint Augustine in this definition because a law is supposed to be "just" in order to preserve peace. Also he defined the difference between the two laws by saying that a just law is a law that elevates your social, moral, or intellectual standards and an unjust law that degrades your integrity.
