Wireless Routers

If you walk through a school and ask any kid that's sitting at a computer they could probley tell you what a router does, may not be able to explain how it does this, but at very least they do know its function. So you wont be reading any explination of how a router works here, but rather an over view of a special type of router. One not confined by the laws that control almost all of todays electronics. I'm not writing this here to give you vague hints of the topic, as the title gives that away, but rather to inform and teach. To borrow a line, "It's depressing how often we see that those who don't remember history are doomed to repeat it. When cordless phones and the first analog cell phones hit the market, anybody with a scanner that operated at the right frequency could easily listen to calls not intended for them."History truly does repeat it self as wireless routers first hit the market any one with a scanner could "listen" in on whats going across your network, just like they could with the cordless phone. Security was a major issue for companys, even home set ups of wireless networks. Though most weren't aware of the problem in the beginning it did become very clear to the public as rouge indiv

If you have a home security system it could also lesses the signal of the wireless router so that others couldn't find it, but at the same time it may interfear with the signal so much that even a computer within your very house hold wont be able to locate it either. The very fact that the wireless router broadcasts it's location for the computers to know where it was is enouph reasoning to know it can't be completely secure, though much effort is put into it. Just think no wires running through your hallways or spending hours pulling the cabling through your cealing into the atic to be able to have your home or office computers in various rooms. You can move your computer to any where in the entire house and stll be able to conect to your printer, other computers and even the internet. But if you truly think about it what was the wireless router other then a receaver for that frequency, proving right there that it wasn't nearly as hard as they planned to listen in. The ability to pull my laptop to me while I sit on my couch and check my mail while also watching some tv is very nice. Look at your options first, you could either hold all your computers with in one room, wich isn't very good for your AC bill or for space, or you could be pulling the cabling every time you wish to move a computer. The signal that the wireless router broadcasts is dampened by other signals along with iron. If your terribly conserned about the price of the wireless router don't be. Of picking up a wireless router for your home or office. The iron rods running through your house causing some of the signal to die down, but not enouph to stop out side influence. Security with the wirless networks has come a long way over the years, but they still don't have the same security of a normal router. All wireless routers are competivly priced, coming around the same price as any normal wired router.
