Macbeth
The story of Macbeth is one of murder, greed, deception and treachery. Macbeth's mind was filled with fantasies of success, and riches from the very beginning because of news from three witches that told him of things to come, of being thane of Cawdor, and eventually King of Scotland. At first he was skeptical, there was already a Thane of Cawdor, but when he was told that the Thane had been executed, and he was in fact to be Thane of Cawdor, he became fixed on his next achievement, of being King of Scotland. He figured that if one of the prophecies had occurred he would achieve the next. The King was planning on announcing who would take over his thrown, and Macbeth believed that it was going to be him. When Malcolm, the Kings son, was pronounced King, Macbeth was outraged as thoughts of murder and treachery filled his mind. He was able to control his urges though, and not carry out his devious thoughts. Lady Macbeth, however, was full of greed and would do anything for Macbeth to be king, as soon as possible. Macbeth had given thought to the idea of treachery, but it was Lady Macbeth who had the greater sense of ambition, which led to his royal thrown of Scotland, and his horrific death. The story of Ma
cbeth is a slide, everything continues down hill after one initial event, listening to the evil presented by the three witches. By listening to them, Macbeth's life took a drastic turn and continued to spiral downwards. Macbeth had many achievements in life which were admired by most people. Macbeth was a good man before these witches had interrupted his life. The story was a tragedy, but I think that's one of the reasons I liked it, it seemed realistic because it didn't end happily for the main character. Overall, I think Macbeth was a fascinating book that kept me reading. Macbeth and his wife were happy with their positions in life until they received the prophecies which had been dealt to Macbeth by the witches. Macbeth had close friends and was respected by them and others. He didn't think that he had a chance of becoming King, until they told him that he was to be. And she would have been right, Macbeth was too kind to kill, he did think about it, and agree to it but he backed down. When Macbeth wrote a letter to Lady Macbeth, stating what the witches had said, she had thoughts of treachery, which she would have otherwise not had, save the witches not delivered the events to come. Obviously the murder had been eating away at her, of she wouldn't have been having disturbing sleeps confessing what she had done. Macbeth wouldn't have thought of killing the King if it wasn't for the witches. When Macbeth was deciding whither or not to kill him, he almost didn't go through with it because he felt he was a good King and hadn't done anything wrong.
