Baby X

Who makes the choice for women to abort their unborn baby? Does the state or the mother-to-be? According to my medical law book , during the first trimester the mother-to-be has a constitutional right to abort and the state has no vested interest in regulating them at that time; during the second trimester, the state may regulate abortion and insist on reasonable standards of medical practices if an abortion is to be performed; during the third trimester, the state's interests override the pregnant woman's rights to abortions, and the state may "proscribe abortion except when necessary to preserve the health or life of the mother." The method of abortion will vary depending on the situation and gestational age of the fetus. For example, a mother could abort the fetus by taking Mifepristone, which is also known as RU-486. This drug induces abortion. She can take it up to 49 days after her last menstrual period. What the pill does is it blocks the progesterone. Two days later, she then takes prostaglandin, which makes the cervix dilate and the uterus contract. Mifepristone may be the preferred treatment since it is noninvasive, has no risk of infection, requires no anesthesia, is less expensive, and offers a lot of privacy to wo

This procedure can only be done in a hospital and requires a stay of one to three days. Another example: a mother could have what is known as a suction abortion performed, what is also known as curettage. Those physicians who perform the abortions should participate only within the law; provide medical knowledge to their clients concerning the stages of pregnancy, the viability of the fetus (if the baby can live on its own outside the mother), and the methods of abortion; obtain written and informed consent (the client must understand what she is about to encounter); provide counseling as indicated by the situation; refer to another physician if necessary; keep the records of the client confidential; seek legal counseling when necessary; and they should be understanding and compassionate. I also don't think that abortion should be used as a method of birth control. " What this does is it brings about normal labor and delivery of the fetus within 18 and 20 hours. She needs to be serious about considering ALL ramifications when deciding. The decision to abort "Baby X" should not be taken lightly. Also, a local (or general) anesthetic may be given to numb the cervix. The rod may be left in overnight, depending on how far along the pregnancy is. "Baby X" is not a doll, "Baby X" is a living human being (even though it cannot live outside of its mother) and it has a soul. The woman is advised to seek professional counselingWhile there are ethical dilemmas involved concerning abortions, there are many methods for abortions that a woman can choose from. After that, approximately 200 mL of saline solution is then "injected slowly into the remaining amniotic fluid. What happens is a tube with a suction device is inserted through the cervix into the uterus. Another example: if a woman is fewer than seven weeks' pregnant, she could have what is known as a "miniabortion;" which is also known as a menstrual extraction. " If this is done in the hospital, a general anesthetic is given before anything else; if done in a doctor's office, a local anesthetic is given.
