PYRAMIDS - A breif history
From the beginning of time we have learned and become familiar with ancient civilizations through the study of artifacts and structures that these civilizations have left behind. We learn about their cultures through their literature and art. Artifacts such as the Cone of Uruinimgina found in Mesopotamia give us insight to their language and development of cuneiform. People to this day still marvel at ancient structures built by past civilizations. From the Coliseum in Rome, Hanging Gardens of the Neo-Babylonian Empire, to the Great Pyramids of Egypt people are still fascinated by these structures.Egypt was one of these first civilizations to grow and become powerful enough to attain such an accomplishment. The pharaohs of ancient Egypt were the first real kings in the world. That is, they ruled over a complete country rather than a town or a tribe. Because they were so powerful, they had the ability to build such astonishing structures such as the great pyramids. The Egyptian pyramids are the oldest stone buildings in the world, standing for nearly 5,000 years. Their size, strength and age is the reason pyramids fascinate people to this day. Some of the pyramids vary in shape from the true pyramid.
And the smaller canoe-shaped boat used for more general purposes. These were to enable him to live in the same manner as he had done before his death. Much time was taken for the observation and planning of the building sight. This was usually an open-air tent that could be moved easily as needed. There were probably two main types of boats. The first step to getting a level surface was to build low mud walls around he area to be leveled and cut criss-cross trenches on the floor of the enclosure. Two main things had to be accomplished during the building of the pyramids. Each side had to face one of the four cardinal points. Sufficient protection was why the king wanted a great, strong tomb. The climate of Egypt has helped to preserve the pyramids, and their very shape has made them less likely to fall into ruin. They took the measurements with cords of palm-fiber or flax-fiber, which tended to stretch when used to measure such distances. There have been different theories amongst researchers about the shape of the pyramid. The next morning the priests arrived to begin the ten-week process of mummification. They would remove the brain and other organs, except for the heart, from inside the body. But if the body was preserved, the Ka could return to it, restoring life to be lived in the afterworld.
