The child by tiger

“The Child by Tiger” it is a moving story about the nature of good and evil, innocence and experience. Written by Tomas Wolfe is very important interpretive literature, not escape literature. It also helps us understand the world around us. “The Child by Tiger” is interpretive literature because of the way the author presents the story, the way it ends the way it educates us, and especially how it helps us understand man’s darker nature.

Dick Prosser is the main character act in “Child by Tiger”. Dick Prosser, a black man of ability and potential, is the object of the racial prejudice that was so evident in the South during the early part of the twentieth century. He is a man who befriends several young white boys; kind heart, powerful, strong and deeply religious man. He teaches them how to throw a football, how to box, and how to make a fire. Indeed he becomes a kindly father figure who initiates them into experience.

Dick Prosser, he is a man who befriends several young white boys. He plays football wit

. . .
Instead, they shot him and even after he was dead, continued to shoot him; they shoot him more than 300 times. “We would know, then that he had been reading his Bible because his eyes would be red, as if he had been weeping”(Wolfe 26). Eventually shot by the mob formed to hunt him down, his bullet-riddled body is hung up for display in the window of the undertaker’s parlor.

Example when Dick Prosser ‘s shown when the boys find the gun. He promises to take them out to shoot if they don’t tell anyone about it.

The author Thomas Wolfe wants to impart a sense shock on the reader an introduces characters who brag about being part of the hunt, an the fact Prosser underlined a particular portion of the Bible Indicated that the act was premeditated and that Prosser knew that he would soon be “walking thought the Valley of death”. He shows them how to kick a ball off the toe in such a way that it would raise and spiral cleanly. And understand the troubles of mankind. h young white boys by his positive attitude, “ he said gently, and now took the ball in his own powerful hands, “when you git a little oldah ya’ handses gits biggah and you gits a bettah grip. He also shows them how to make a fire, how to pile the kindling so that the flames shot up cone-wise, cleanly, with out smoke or waste

Dick Prosser, he was deeply religious and went to church three times a week.

“The child by Tiger” is trying to tell us and help us understand our troubles. For the first time in their lives, they experience profound loss, and they witness evil as it is personified in bloodthirsty mob. This act is a lesson about man’s darker side and how it allows him to use his friendship to keep from getting caught.

The boys agree an in so doing they form a bond with Prosser.
