There are plenty of opportunities to have a wonderful time in this provence. In recent years, it had to close mines, the steel industry had serious problems and the textile industry was in decline. Lille has some excellent shops and restaurants. The region has long been an area of vast economic potential, but now it is developing modern industries to take full advantage of the new opportunities offered by the Channel tunnel and the TGV-Nord high speed train service.
