Mao and Stalin
Through out history the world has seen strong and powerful individuals and revolutionary ideas that have come to have a major affect on a country. Leaders are usually driven by what they see as a desire to create a better and more perfect country. It seems that these leaders appear to have the people's best interest at heart. But, there is always one tremendous obstacle standing in the way and that is their personal interest. They get so wrapped up in satisfying their egos and operating by harsh methods, they seem to move away from the realization of the goals they first set out to accomplish. Every country on this earth has had the privilege to have at least one great leader at one point or another. When this occurs a country can realize it and take advantage of it in terms of watching the changes that take place and maintain them, or just let the leader slip away not to be heard from again. Without a doubt a great leader will always have an impact on its country whether it is positive or negative and it will act as a long lasting example for future generations down the line. Rather than help develop their countries people, Mao and Stalin controlled the people through the use of education and free speech, and in actuality brainwashed the people terribly. He took notice of how economically and technologically advanced countries like Germany and France were and how much his country was lacking. Stalin says, "We could receive from them machines for making our industry and agriculture more productive supply then in turn with raw materials and foodstuffs. So the real question is where did Mao and Stalin's genuine interest lie? Was it for the people or for themselves? I suppose they took the answer to their graves, but you really do not have to look far to find out. Mao Tse-tung who was the epitome of an ideal communist started the peasant movement, and also spread terror and chaos through out China. But, there is a big difference as to how they both went about these ventures. They used this control along with violence to ultimately create a totalitarian government. He wanted the peasants to have total control by any means necessary and he was not afraid to use violent force. Stalin proves this in hi statement that in order to secure the final victory of socialism in our country, we must also overtake and outstrip these countries technically and economically. They both believed that to achieve a strong economic structure peasants must be empowered and have total control. It came to a point where some of the gentry and landlords after being beat down wanted to join the peasant movement and offered money.
