princess bride
The Princess Bride is a fairytale movie directed by Rob Reiner in 1987. Like most movies it was based on a book, which in this case it was written by William Goldman. Rob Reiner and William Goldman did a phenomenal job turning this medieval fairytale book into a movie that would soon be enjoyed by many people for many of years. The actors and actresses they selected all played their role perfectly. Some of the better actors and actresses were Cary Elwes as Westley, Robin Wright as Princess Buttercup, Mandy Patinkin as Inigo Montoya, and Andre the Giant as Fezzik. Those four performers made some of the funniest and most enjoyable scenes to watch. The three scenes that I thought were the best stared the characters Westly, Princess Buttercup, Inigo Montoya, and Fezzik. One scene was when Princess Buttercup was suppose to be getting married to Prin
Westley almost gets killed, but somehow Westley does not get killed and comes to save the day. The lovers meet again in some ironic way and get into trouble for some unexplained reason. Like many fairytales, the story began with Westly and Princess Buttercup being deeply in love and concluded with them being separated. In order for a movie to become successful it must have a well-developed plot, good humor. Princess Buttercup soon realized that the person who followed them was Westley. One of the funniest lines is when Vizzini tells Fezzik "Am I going mad, or did the work 'think' escape your lips?! You were not hired for your brains you hippopotamic land mass!"(Mongo & Smiley) It takes a simple thing, like a good one-liner, that can make or break a movie. The man who followed battled with Inigo Montoya, Fezzik, and Vizzini; but he only killed Vizzini. The movie started with a young boy who was ill and his grandfather comes to read him a book. Throughout the movie the frames switch between the actual movie and the grandfather reading the book. It was not each individual scene that intrigued me; I enjoyed the plot of the movie. Inigo Montoya, Fezzik, and their leader Vizzini then kidnap her. Even though the movie is serious, it has many humorous aspects as well. If all of this character come together the movie will capture the interest of its audience. Of course, the book he began to read is The Princess Bride.
