The life of robert frost
Born March 26, 1874 in a small apartment located in San Francisco, Robert Frost, one of America's leading 20th century poets, was born. Robert Frost was the first born son to William Prescott Forest and "Belle" Isabelle Frost. Robert Frost's home life had much influence on his life and his writings. William Prescott Forest was a rebellious teen who ran away to serve under the leadership of Robert E. Lee, his hero whom he named his son after. His personality was disliked by many but he gained the respect he always wanted. Despite his parent's and many other people's doubts of him, he was accepted at Harvard and lived the college life - gambling and drinking but managed to graduate with honors in 1872. His goal was to enter politics, but after doing some journalism his senior year, doing literary work attracted him. He hated New England and aspired to someday move to the West coast "following in the adventurous footsteps of Mark Twain, Bret Harte, and Ambrose Bierce - each of whom found San Francisco a good place for a young man with literary ambitions." The original differences between him and his wife's temperaments that made them seem an unlikely couple began to grow more severe. " It was also during this time that their third child, a son, Carol Frost was born on May 22, 1902. Over the years Robert Frost received an unprecedented number and of literary, academic, and public honors. He found a room in a boarding home and was accepted for a regular position with the "Bulletin". Despite Elinor's father's opinions of Robert, on December 19, 1895, he married his high school rival Elinor White. Early on in the relationship, Belle told Will that she would never marry him nor any other man for that matter. A Boy's Will was bought by a London Publisher in 1913 followed by North of Boston which gained favorable reviews from both sides of the Atlantic. " This was easily explained to him by his mother as being voices from the "spirit world. "She was unhappy," Frost recalled, "and couldn't find a way around it. Robert's rebellious side began to make its appearance during his teen years. Belle was driven deeper into her religion as an escape from a sad life. " Frost's wife of forty-three years and the only woman he had ever loved, was gone. Henry Holt and Company published the books and established Frost's reputation in the United States. She was already disliked by Will's parents from the beginning and tensions grew increasingly strained; Belle set out for Greenfield, Ohio with her newborn baby and two year old son to stay with Sarah Newton a good friend of hers from her childhood. Upon her arrival, she found Will in a hospital where doctors were treating him for consumption, one of the dreaded diseases of the age.
