the great gatsby
In F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, The Great Gatsby, he portrays many ways in which it is proven that love cannot be bought by money, no matter what the circumstances are. Gatsby thought that because he had money, that Daisy would come back to him. Tom thought that he could buy Daisy's love by money. Tom also bought Myrtle's love through money. Before Gatsby had left for the army, Daisy and him were involved in a relationship. Unfortunately, Daisy refused to stay longer in their relationship due to the fact that Gatsby wasn't rich enough for her. When Gatsby came back, he made it a goal for himself to get back his lost love, Daisy. Gatsby believed that Daisy would eventually return to him because of his wealth. Gatsby did many things to impress and bring back Daisy to him. To help him retrieve Daisy, Gatsby holds huge parties to attract her attention towards him. He buys a very big house with maids and servants around the house. He does all these things to get Daisy back into his life. Even though Daisy did come around to Gatsby and realized his fame and wealth, she realized something. She pondered on the fact that she loved him. Daisy did not feel true love. Her love for Gatsby was fake and materialistic. Th
Money cannot buy happiness or love, no matter how much money you spend on something or someone. The reason that Daisy thought that she loved Tom was because of that necklace and that he was wealthy. While married to Daisy, Tom felt unsatisfied and had an affair with Myrtle Wilson. You should be able to get them anyhow, with or without money. On Daisy's wedding day with Tom, she received a letter from Tom, which came along a three hundred thousand dollar pearl necklace. However, Gatsby didn't really show true love for Daisy. That is why they turn to so many people, causing deceitfulness and breakups. Even though he wasn't happy, he still had her eating out of his palm. But, true and real love can last a lifetime. She could not see the truth under the lies. Love should come from with within the heart and soul. Often times, prosperous people are lonely and want the security of others. Gatsby should have realized that no money in this world could ever buy true love from anyone's heart. Most prosperous people often have multiple relationships because they want to feel belonged and loved.
