             This article, "The Gutenberg Galaxy: The making of Typographic Man" by Marshall McLuhan stresses that technology is constantly changing and growing and the initial cause for this evolution is writing. Without writing, other technologies would not evolve or even exist. Writing introduced print technology which had a more impact in our society. Humans' perception and intelligence changes and influence technology. McLuhan believed text emphasizes on learning which disciplines the mind. Learning involves thinking, reciting, and knowledge. Visual experience of reading text formed the "technology of individualism" and one's point of view remains specific. However, the development of print minimized the importance of writing. Humans began to rely on print because there was no need to memorize books or passages. Therefore, print technology replaced some of humans' intelligence. Typography was developed and this brought mass production into our world. The Typographic process enabled easier and quicker reading of texts. This allowed technology to dramatically change over the years and writing is the primary cause.
             The evolution of communication technologies is constantly changing the way we communicate and express our thoughts and feelings. When we explore technological changes in the world, focusing only on communication, we must understand the evolution of technology and the impact of each stage. One of the most important stages of communication technology is the creation of the "typographic man." Typography is the "art and techniques of printing with movable type" and it contributed to printing because it allowed mass production of the movable type.
