Saving Private Ryan
The film industry of the 20th century has done all that it could to manipulate the viewers of the world. Wheter good, or bad propaganda in film has been a major source for molding the publics minds to fit the politicaly correct way of thinking at that particular time. Saving Private Ryan and an Officer and a gentleman are both movies that i believe to be propaganda films for the unioted states in concern of war. Both of these movies deal with the united states armed services, but the message behind these movies are very In saving private ryan the action that takes place is in world war 2. This movie was created in the 1998 by steven spielberg, who brought a war in to your living room. Many people were led to believe that this movie could have been a pro war movie for the fact that it incorporates a good story line into the tragedy that is taken place. If you were to look beyond the hollywood glitz you will see a movie that brings you the realness of war. At the time world war 2 was a neccesity for the u.s. to be a part of, but this movie does not glorify that in the least. Saving private ryan captures a sense of thankfulness to the veterans
No meritorious act of a subordinate should escape his attention or be left to pass without reward, even if the reward be only one word of approval. An officer and a gentleman is a movie that was done in the 80's that depicts the honor of becoming a soldier for uncle sam. They set up the officer as if he were a used car, showing all of the features that tou will recieve once you are enlisted and taken in with open arms to recieve your letter that describes you as being all that you can be. S) His primary reason for becoming a officer was to fly jets. This message led me to believe that private ryan was meant to be depicted as a anti-war film, for the fact that pulling a trigger is something that you never want to do. Somehow he found a way to put himself though college and then decided to go to Officer Candidate School (O. As he should be universal and impartial in his rewards and approval of merit, so should he be judicial and unbending in his punishment or reproof of misconduct. Both of these movies are propaganda at its finest showing both sides of a spectrum that is neccesary for the american people at that particular time. This statement is a little hard to swallow, which may be why director Steven Spielberg felt compelled to shove it so hard down viewers' throats. The second message portrayed in this film staes that sometimes you have to follow orders even when they don't make any sense to you. Conversely, he should not be blind to a single fault in any subordinate, though, at the same time, he should be quik and unfailing to distinguish error from malice, thoughtlessness from incompetency, and well-meant shortcoming from needless or stupid blunder.
