Thanksgiving Dinner At My House

One of the best Thanksgiving Dinner memmories I have is when I was asked to cook dinner at my house. I knew this was a big honor and could not wait until that morning. When I got up I took a deep breath and sighed knowing that my day was going to exciting and very hectic. My day began with a beautiful fall morning. I started my coffee and stepped out onto the porch. The morning was cold and crisp, the fallen leaves rustled in the yard and I could smell the aroma of fresh brewed coffee. I was enjoying the serinty so much that I actually dreaded going back in to start the turkey. It was exactly 6am so Iknew I had to get started, the turkey had been defrosting in water overnight so it was thawed, I lifted it out of the bucket and put in the sink, next it was time to clean it so pulled off the wrapper and washed it realy good it was freezing cold from being in the icy water all night and soon my fingers were numb. Next Ipulled out the giblets there was still a little ice left i

This lit up the room wheni put it in the middle of the table, next Igot out the plates they to had fall colors, the napkinsalso had tiny fall leaves on them so they went along with the centerpiece, I got out my candles, the forks and the glasses and put them on the table, after I lit the candles I took a step back and the table looked as if it belonged in a magazine, I could not believe that I had did this and i felt myself swell up with pride. nside so they were a little hard to get out but i managed , after that was done Iput it in the roaster and got out the can of peaches and opened them after they were in it was time to baste the oven was preheating and ready so Iput the lid on and it was ready to go. My pies were easy one apple and one choclate the apples were sweet smelling , I put them in a pie crust and the made up the choclate pie after that, the greencasserole was easy it only took a few minutes to make so I started on peeling the potatoes, I started to smell the aroma of the turkey and i started feeling kind of panic because Inew that it wouldn't be to much longer and my family would be here and then i could feel the excitement and the anxiousness starting to swell up inside and since everything was going as planned i relaxed. Since the turkey and all sides were on it was now time to address the table, earlier that week I had purchesed a beautifiul centerpiece that the most vibrant fall colors with twigs, berries and all different colored leaves. After the turkey was done it was time to get the rest of the meal ready i had done some preparation throughtout the week like my pie crusts so i started the dressing. I ripped apart the bread and felt a little ruff on my hands, Ihad let it set out for an hour to harden a little, next Icut up onions and celery, my eyes began to water because the onoins were strong, the gibblets were boiling on a pot that Istarted and the dressing was ready to be mixed together and put in the oven. When everyone arrived we all stood around the table with the turkey and sides spread out before us in a magnificent feast, and we each began to say something we gratefull for when it was my turn I looked around at my family, and the meal and just simply stated that I was grateful for the oppurtinty to fix this meal for them and I was thankful for the food that the good Lord and given us and I was thankful that my first Thanksgiving dinner was success.
