a genius at work
I saw the movie and the book Tuck Everlasting. There were many similarities and some differences between to movie and the book. I will name some. In the movie Jesse falls from a Ferris Wheel. In the book he falls from a tree. In the movie Winnie was talking to a turtle. In the book she was talking to a toad. In both the movie and the book Winnie runs away from home and meets Jesse. She is about to drink the water from the spring but Jesse stopped her. In both the Tuck’s kidnapped Winnie and took her to their home. They then explained their secret to her. She ate and slept over that night. In both the Man in the yellow suit follows the Tucks, but in the movie he tries to stop them from getting any further than they already were. He shot Miles and he noticed something was peculiar about the Tucks. In the movie Angus (Tuck) put his hand in fire and then placed in it cold water. The burns instantly disappeared and that’s how Winnie knew the secret was true. They could live forever. In both Angus and Winnie went into the boat and he told her about the significance . . .
In the movie Angus and Mae go there and they find Winnie’s grave stone. In the movie they went into the wood and talked and Jesse gave her a bottle of the spring water. I like the movie better than the book because in the book I can get a picture in my mind about what is happening, but I might not be picturing the right thing. In the book Mae hit the Man in the yellow suit in the back of the head with a gun. In the movie he just went inside uninvited. In the book the Tucks talk to a waiter. In both the Man in the yellow suit planned to sell the spring water to people who deserved it. In the movie Jesse was working at the fair and he met a girl named Kathy who was scared when she was on the merry-go-round. In the movie Winnie took Angus’s place in jail. In the movie Winnie hoped that the Man in the yellow suit would die, but in the book she wanted him to live so Mae wouldn’t go to the gallows. In the book they see the toad again and they pick it up to put it across the street. In the movie they talked to a waitress. In the book the Man in the yellow suit knocked on the door to the Tuck’s house. Then he makes a deal with the Fosters that if he brought Winnie home he would get the wood. In the movie there is a milkman, but there is no milkman in the book.
