Euthanasia is the act or practice of painlessly putting to death, persons suffering from painful and incurable diseases or incapacitating physical disorders. Because there is no specific provision for euthanasia in most legal systems, it is accounted as either suicide (if performed by the patient himself) or murder (if performed by another). There has always been a heated debate that surrounds euthanasia, yet it has become much more controversial within recent years. This conflict-ridden issue has segregated much of the population in deciding whether people should have the right to end their own life, or whether the government should continue to prohibit the existence of euthanasia. Euthanasia is morally, politically, and socially unacceptable, and this will be demonstrated through a comprehensive breakdown of the religious, and moral aspects of euthanasia, the effect of the legalization of euthanasia, along with the examination of the Robert Latimer and Sue Rodriguez case.The choice between life and death belongs to God, not to an individual.
