The Crusades
The Crusades were eight military expeditions from Europe to Palestine. The Crusades took place from 1096-1270. The Crusades occurred because the Christians wanted to recapture the Holly Land from the Muslims. Jews, Muslims, and Christians all took part in the Crusades. In the first Crusade, Pope Urban III felt responsible to protect christian anity from expansion by Muslim Turks. He also wanted to unite Christian Europe to increase his power as pope. Peter the Hermit was a poor man who attracted thieves, tricksters, and beggars. The results of the first crusade was that four different armies all used different routs to get to Constantinople, Antioch, and Jerusalem. Another result was that Crusaders attacked farmers, looted cottages, and massicared Jews. Also, the Chr
Other Children died trying to sail to the Holly-Land. The results of this Crusade were that the Crusades broke apart in 1204, some Christians were sent to Venice, and Constantinople was in ruins and the greeks reclaimed it. There were lots of impacts of the Crusades on lots of different people. Nur-al-din captured many crusader states. So some parents and children all e=went to the Mediterranean Sea, while Philip III of France demanded them to return their homes. There was an impact on Muslims also. There was also an impact on the exchange of ideas. The muslims adopted the European military tactics, and Muslim scholarship circulated. In the fourth Crusade or the Children's Crusade, children, parents, and infants all participated. Muslims controlled most of Asia Minor, they lost Spain, and there was political fragmentation. Another impact was on the exchange of goods. There was a battle called "Battle at the horns of Hittin" and the Muslims won that battle. In the third Crusade or the Kings crusade, Philip of France, Frederik of Germany, and Richard of England all participated. As a result of the third crusade, Philip & Richard captured Acre. There was an exchange of language, paper was introduced to Europe, Muslim arches were used in medeival castles, and and the textile industries were adopted by Muslims.
