a gathering of old men

In Macbeth, a play by William Shakespeare, the two main characters demonstrate strengths and weakness. Through out the play Lady Macbeth's early power and strength weakens. Macbeth starts out weak and needs his wife to lead him around then changes to the complete opposite and becomes king. The power shifts from Lady Macbeth to Macbeth. In the beginning of the play, Shakespeare shows the strength of Lady Macbeth and the weakness of Macbeth. The witches tell Macbeth that he will be king, "All hail, Macbeth, who will soon be king." Macbeth thinks about killing the King when the other prophecies fulfil'. Then Macbeth thinks that he won't have to do anything to become king. "If chance will have me king, why chance may crown me without my stir." On the other hand when Lady Macbeth hears about the witches' prophecies she knows that they will have to kill King Duncan, she wants to convince her husband not to wait for Duncan's natural death. But she


She manipulated her husband into killing king Duncan, and then told him how weak he was, "My hands are of your color: but I shame to wear a heart so white. Toward the middle of the play, Lady Macbeth starts to weaken and lose strength while King Macbeth is finding his. She immediately gives into the evil spirits, "come you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fil me from the Crown to the toe, top-full of direct cruelty! Make thick my blood. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth have started to take on, as they're new characters now. " So Macbeth plans to have his friend Banquo murdered. Macduff was from his mothers womb untimely ripped. " Macbeth is now using his strength to get done what he needs done. " He doesn't want to have anyone or anything in his way while he is king. At the end of the play, Macbeth who no longer needs any encouragement from his wife is ready to do anything to keep his kingship. No matter how strong Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were they were still mortals. Macbeth was weak at the beginning but as the play progressed so did his strength. " This gives her the power and strength to tell her husband to kill the king. On the other hand Lady Macbeth started out strong.
