Romeo and Juliet

In William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, there are many forces that effect the final tragic ending. Fate, Destiny, Love, and Hate all seem to control Romeo and Juliet’s lives. The effect of hate is particularly harmful. It engrosses the minds of all Capulets and Montagues and corrupts their view of each other. The hatred between the Montagues and the Capulets limits relationships, damages Father-daughter bonds, and ends lives.

Romeo and Juliet, in all probability, were not really in love. They were infatuated with each other. They were in love with the idea that they were in love. In Romeo's rashness, Tybalt dies also. She then vowed that “when [she] does [marry]… it shall be Romeo” (III, v, 122-123). This fatal act was due to the feud between their families. Just after Romeo married Juliet, Tybalt called Romeo a villain and challenged him to fight. Romeo tries to stop them, but his attempts are in vain. Out of anger and guilt, Romeo than retaliates and attacks Tybalt. He promises “either [Tybalt] or [Romeo] must go with [Mercutio]” (III, i, 128). Despite the fact they were forbidden to communicate, they proclaimed that neither could continue without the other. None of this would have happened if there was no quarrel between the families.
