JFK - Stone's Masterpeice
When Oliver Stone created JFK in 1991 he produced a historical drama that works as a mystery and a thriller. Not only did he create a movie that crossed multiple genres he did well. How does a movie that runs over three hours long find success? It realizes that the world is filled with conspiracy junkies and tapes into what may be, at least in Stone's opinion, one of the largest conspiracies in the history of mankind. Whether Stone's opinion is the true history of what occurred or not, his power of his chosen medium is strong enough to sway me. JFK is a film that blurs the reality of history with fictional dramatizations creating an image of what might have been.Following the texts written by real life district attorney Jim Garr
Stone has a valid excuse for the length of his film. The movie's plot revolves around Garrison's (Kevin Costner) attempt to charge Claw Shaw (Tommy Lee Jones) with the murder of the president. No corners were cut in the research and development of this story. One, the acting is superb (If more detail is needed refer to previous paragraph). Three, the music is selected in hope of emphasizing what the action is trying to say. Four, the cinematography in the film captures not only the style of the time, but also the emotion in the scene. ison Oliver Stone weaves a tale linking all levels of government to the murder of John F. There are for components that make this extremely long film (3 Hrs +) not only viewable, but also unforgettable. Their performances are so good we forget that we are watching actors that we have seen as someone else. For JFK is one of the monumental films of the 90's.
