On an average, and not including parents, all students have about thirty teachers from Kindergarten to graduation. After this, there are the college instructors and other teachers that continue to inspire and impart their knowledge to learners. But are all of theses good teachers? Does a college degree or a certificate showing that all required courses have been taken and passed, prove that a teacher is a good teacher. What makes a college student remember the first grade teacher and forget the professor who taught English a semester ago? What makes a student stay up until 3 a.m. completing an assignment for one teacher and not even open the book for another? What qualities does a teacher possess that makes him/her an excellent and memorable teacher? I will deal with three things a person must possess to be a good teacher.
             First of all, any job that a person loves doing will be done well. A good teacher should have a love for teaching. In other words, the person must want to be a teacher. The teacher must not be in the profession just for the salary. Furthermore, it is not just enough to love teaching, but a good teacher must love the ones they teach. Teaching is a profession that calls on the individual to give a large portion of their time and energy to the task of teaching. The teacher must have a commitment to the profession because students can feel whether or not the teacher wants to be in the classroom or out on the beach getting a tan. If the teacher does not love the job, he/she will not prepare for the students in order to make learning interesting. The learning environment may become boring or humdrum, causing the students to lose interest, not only in that class but all future classes as well.
             The second thing that a teacher must possess to be a good teacher is a knowledge of the subject(s) being taught and the ability to convey that knowledge to the students. Thinking
