Last of the Mohicans
James Cooper was a great writer, and very talented with descriptions. This would explain the enormous detail the movie involves, and the powerful views the movie shares with its audiences. The characters consisted of the typical "majors" and "minors." The "majors" included Nathaniel or "Hawkeye," as he's referred to in the movie, Chincagook, the father, Uncas, the last of the Mohican tribe, the Huron warriors (antagonists), Mogua (Leader of the antagonists), and the British officer Duncan and the Colonel Munro, who commanded Fort William Henry.I really can't see wasting time summarizing all ten scenes. I can't remember that much detail to work out all that. Basically, I'm going to give my summary of it. It opens with Nathaniel and his father, and Uncas running through the woods, seemly pointless until Nathaniel brings up his rifle and kills the Elk they were chasing, giving the scene an actual point, though,
It then goes to the cabin in the wilderness frontier, where they talk with a local militiaman about the British and French battles. Duncan pleaded and was traded for Karen, but Mogua had already taken Cora and left. We are then taken to the British Fort, the name escapes me at press time, and are shown the conversation between the militia leader and the British General Webb, who is sending a courier to Fort William Henry with a regiment and an Indian guide, hence, Mogua enters. a shot of what they were chasing would have made the scene much more interesting. Chincagook came in at a sprint with Nathaniel clearing a path for him and killed Mogua swiftly. Nathaniel and his 2 shadows are there, over hearing this, and leave ahead of the regiment, heading west to trap and hunt where the land isn't poisoned by the war. To keep this from going 3 pages, from there, they go to Fort William Henry with the girls and Duncan. Once there, they get some powder and supplies, and mean to go on their way, but Nathaniel was accused of being a traitor and was sentenced to be hung, even though Karen (Munro's eldest girl) pleaded for his life to be spared. This he did, and he succeed in his goal of killing Munro, first by cutting out his heart, and then by scalping him. There was a battle on a cliff, and Uncas was killed, after which, the girl he loved stepped off and died as well. Following the trail, Nathaniel, Chincagook and Uncas found the girls to a Huron village, in which Nathaniel encountered a little bit of trouble entering. Some words were exchanged, and Mogua left fuming. He gathered his war party and set to ambush the British group. After which we see a burial ceremony for Uncas. After hearing both sides, it was decided that Mogua would take Munro's youngest daughter as his wife, Duncan would go back to the British, and that Munro's oldest daughter would burn in the Huron fire.
