Gun control

You're sitting in your room late one evening when you hear something downstairs. At first you ignore it thinking it's just a noise. Then you hear something even louder and it seems to be approaching your door. You don't know who this could possibly be being that you live by yourself. Fearing the worst you reach over to your nightstand and retrieve your gun. You quickly take the trigger lock off of it and load it with bullets, which are also in the nightstand. All of the sudden you hear footsteps stop outside your door. You frantically move to the corner of your room where you sit and wait. Without warning your door flies open and their stands a masked person waiting to attack. You raise the gun and yell it's loaded. The masked burglar then quickly flees from your room and exits your house. How can owning a gun be such a bad thing when used for self-defense? "You are 31 times more likely to be in an automobile accident then you are to be accidentally shot"(Smith). United States citizens should have the comfort of knowing that they are safe at all times. People who are against gun control feel that they should be allowed to possess any firearm. Then why is it that a United States citizen does not have the right to protect himself or herself? If you are put in a life threatening situation then don't worry, you can just tell your assailant to hold on while you take out your cell phone and call the police, who will arrive in the earliest of five minutes. To say the least, gun control advocates have been profoundly embarrassed by the results of these permits. Many people think that with all these people carrying guns around that senseless crimes are going to happen all the time. Instead of making laws against guns people should be educated on proper ways to handle a gun. These bullets were made out of brass and coated with Teflon to reduce the wear and damage to the barrel. The fact that criminals are willing to kill someone over a couple of dollars is a very scary thing. "The federal government lists the total firearm related deaths for children were 612, or 1.
