Salvation

"Salvation" is about the first time Langston is going to be saved from "sin." Langston is revealed his persona is very immature and naive. He uses very simple words to show his persona's purity, so it makes readers can follow the writer's story easily and smoothly. In "Salvation," Langston's persona wrung his heart because of his childhood experience, and feel shame at to do at the church. In this short story, the adults just made a good kid a liar instead of tutoring the true meaning of religion. At length he thinks to himself and sees that nothing have happened to Westley for lying about not seeing Jesus. He was hurt and felt abandoned, so Langston's feeling towards religion has changed since then, even though he was meek and naive. When his aunt tells him that he will see Jesus and he will come inside him, he takes it to the letter. Adults sometimes do not realize that they are speaking metaphorically. " Later that night, he is very embarrassed with himself not only for lying but also for loosing faith in Jesus. " This example of dialogue represents Langston's striving with not seeing Jesus. He is ashamed of himself because he is only one left on the bench. At this point, he does not understand why he does not see him. Westley said to Langston in a whisper: 'God damn! I'm tired o' sitting here. As time goes on, he feel guilty and sorry for everyone around him. Langston then decides that he, too, will lie and he hopes that nothing will happen to him for lying to God, "so I got up.
