The fire in the bathroom when Jerome is killing himself made the medal looks gold, it shows that he is the winner. for example the hard work and courage when he showed us when he was climbing up the stairs. The strong friendship shared between Vincent and Jerome was displayed when Jerome committed suicide after Vincent travelled into space. He finally knew that what he possibly can do if he tried harder and a little less anticipation on his future. The burden of perfection and the failing made Eugene attempt to take his own life. "i have put too much in this" Jerome saidIn conclusion, we can see that Jerome is not a coward and it doesnt show that he has no redeeming qualities. Without Jerome, Vincent would never see the space and would never gone to space. He believed that he had won his race after all the hard work being done helping Vincent to achieve his dream and he no longer wants to be alone. Also it takes lots of courage for a person to kill himself. however in the end it is Jerome who values it the most where a lot of hard work has been done.
