The Torah

The Torah is a handwritten document that contains the history and laws of the Jewish people. It is considered the constitution of the Jewish people, and is a very important part of Jewish life. It is read every Monday, Thursday, and during Sabbath and holiday services. The Torah consists of the first five books of the Christian Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The Torah, otherwise known as the Pentateuch, is written on a scroll, which is thought to be easier to handle than a regular book. There is a Torah kept in every Jewish community arou

There is much dancing, and the Torah is carried under a canopy in a parade. Since the scribe who wrote it might look over his own mistakes, there are two people checking the Torah at once. Since they need to concentrate fully while writing it, the scribes can not talk to anybody. However, many scholars are now saying that five independent people wrote each of the five books. Although the scribes can erase most mistakes with a knife and pumice stone, no one is allowed to erase the Lord's name. All of the copies that have been made are handwritten! The act of writing the Torah is considered the holiest deed that anyone could perform. As you can see, the Torah is a very, very important part of Jewish life! . When they are ready to finish for the day, they must finish on a joyous sentence. It takes about one year to complete a Torah. Most scribes can work for about three or four hours at a time. However, after the copy of the Torah is written, there is still the task of checking it over for errors. The Torah has been copied many times and is still being copied by scribes. Once the Torah is completed, there is a big celebration. No Torah is complete until this joyous celebration is finished.
