Motorcyclist
One who rides a bicycle or a motorbike. A motorcyclist, especially a member of a motorcycle gang. That is the definition of a biker as written by The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language. I think the definition is a bit more complex than that. A motorcyclist is a doctor; he is a lawyer, a mother, father, son, daughter or grandparent. A motorcyclist could be a teacher, a student, a mechanic or even unemployed. The motorcyclist likes to ride in any weather condition; he will ride for the fun of it or out of necessity. If a motorcyclist needs to run an errand, then he will be trying to go on his motorcycle. Motorcycle riding is not just a lifestyle, it's an attitude.
The adrenaline rush that one gets while pushing the envelope is both exciting and addictive. He is ready to ride in any weather or for any reason. There are multi-generation motorcyclists; kids just learning to grandparents that have been riding for sixty or more years. Riding through the curves on Hwy 9 like water flowing down the banks of a river. Some families have one, two or more motorcyclists; some families include all of the children and family pets and include them in on the thrill of riding. wind in my face, the road just inches from my feet. At most motorcycle rallies awards are issued to the youngest and oldest riders along with awards for the youngest and oldest passengers. Groups that get together for a quick meal and a four hour ride; plan a trip over the mountains just for an ice cream cone; groups that take six thousand mile vacations traveling across the country and spend every waking moment for weeks riding, talking or breathing motorcycles. One would even see trophies for the farthest traveled, largest group, nicest bike or best dressed. Leaning through the corners at speeds that are near double the recommended safe speed just to get the foot pegs to drag the ground. " A motorcycle owner will keep his bike in the garage until the weather is perfect; it might stay there until he can find time to ride; or it might stay locked away just because the mood isn't right. In the motorcycle community there is a saying: "there are two types of people: motorcycle owners and motorcycle riders. There is no single definition that could apply to every motorcyclist; we are a group of motorcycle riders that truly enjoy every facet of the biker's life. A motorcycle rider is completely different from the owner.
