The American Dream
The American Dream is one of the many themes in the book Of Mice and Men. This theme represents the longing of each person to suddenly come into money and power. They expect to do this by either working for it and building up a successful business, or maybe even not, a business, but just a small piece of land and a home. The reason so many people in America want to do this, is because they feel that if they gained money and power, then they will be more respected and liked, and they will be happier. Besides, the United States is rumored to be the land of opportunity, where a person could go to hit it off and get rich. The dream of so many Americans is something that will probably never happen to most people. It is the dream of having so much power and wealth, that you would never have to get up in the morning and go to a job, in order to pay bills, eat, and live comfortably. This dream comes true for a large amount of people, but in comparison to the numbers of homeless and poor we have living here, it's a tiny amount.
