Atheist, Agnostic, and Skeptic

             Religion is a topic better left unsaid in my household. My mother believes in God, but does not attend church nor practice a certain religion. My father, on the other hand, does not believe in any god or religious figure. However, the difference in beliefs does not create a problem for my parents or me because there is no discussion on the topic within the house. I am undecided when it comes to religion. Although I was baptized in a Lutheran-Zion church, I find myself debating the true meaning behind organized religion. I have researched atheism as well as agnosticism and do not find myself fitting indefinitely into one category more than the other. I use skepticism and skeptical thinking to base conclusions on logic and rationalism. So at this point in my life, I consider myself a skeptic. Since I do not believe strongly towards any religion I find it difficult to say what my religion means to me. However, I can tell you what religion as a whole means to me as an atheist, agnostic, and skeptic.
             Atheism has no exact definition, but it simply means "not believing in any gods." Contrary to popular belief, "implicit" atheists acknowledge gods, however, they do not believe in them. This brings upon two different positions; not believing in a god and not believing a god exists. I will accept that people choose to believe in certain gods and practice their faith. However, I do not believe in a god or certain faith and this brings up debate with the many people of faith. In the past few years, I have been questioning my religion and discussed it with surrounding peers and elders. Only once have I found someone to share my opinion as a weak atheist. We struggled to open discussion about atheism without a Christian or Buddhist cramming religious propaganda back in our face.
