Industrial revolution

The Industrial Revolution was a period of extreme transition. It had a quite positive effect on the living and working conditions. People benefited mainly through the inventions of machines, which replaced hard labor, and also wages were increased which provided families with better households to live in.
The biggest and foremost change was in the Industry field. Many industries grew and made improved materials and high-tech machines to make working conditions easier and better. In the past the industries were efficient but the workers productivity was low, making costs higher. This meant the longer it took one person to manufacture a product, the higher the price. Therefore, goods were high in price and exclusive only to the wealthy people. This was about to change. In the year 1733, the demand for cotton cloth was high, but production was low. This crisis had to be solved or England's economy would be slowed down. The answer came from a British weaver, John Kay, who invented the flying shuttle, which was like a boat shaped piece of wood to which yarn was attached, but it allowed a weaver to work twice as fast. John Kay was a pioneer and his invention paved the way for numerous inventors. Now, there was a new problem as there was an insufficient supply of yarn. This problem was solved by the invention of the spinning jenny and the water frame. Since the invention of the flying shuttle, spinners couldn't keep up with weavers so the next invention was the spinning jenny. "This simple machine allowed one spinner to work six to eight threads at a time" . Next to come was the water-frame. It used the water from fast-flowing streams to drive the spinning wheels. Both of the previously mentioned were hand operated machines. In 1779, Samuel Crompton discovered a way to combine the spinning jenny and the water frame. This was known as the spinning mule. The spinning mule made thread that was stronger and finer. These machin...
