He found the Paris street life fascinating. Picasso went through some hard times; as a child he dealt with poverty, his younger sister died, and Spains economy was crumbling. During Picasso's Blue Period, he used different shades of blue. l he could get on his feet and take care of himself. At the age of 15, he was at the top of his class at Barcelona's School of Fine Arts. Through the years of 1904-1905, he would visit the circus from time to time and study the performers, the way they look, their physical appearance, and their characteristics. he used warm colors in his paintings and now included comedians and carnival performers, all shown in busy Paris streets. He met more people during his Rose Period including the poet Max Jacob, the writer Guillaume Apollinaire, art dealers like Ambroise VBollard and Daniel Henry Kahnweiler . As a child Picassowas a great painter. He drew pictures here and there of his cousins, his mom and dad, and friends. This Blue period didn't last long and after it came his Rose period. At 16, he won a gold medal for painting a mural called Science and Charity. In 1904, Pablo finally moved away and settled in the city of Paris. Picasso went through different phases throught his life, because of what he felt and what was going on in his life. He used blue to express human misery; the pictures portray blind figures, beggars, alcoholics, prostitutes, and sick people.
