Social Work Values
Identify and examine their own values, attitudes, and spirituality by considering societal responsibilities for others in need. Throughout all of my reading I have done a lot of thinking. Mainly thinking about what I believe is the right decision or view on topics. Reviewing this topic of social work values brought me to chapter 3. Values are the key to making decisions. Some questions may be hard even though my values have already bee established. Not only as social workers, but as Christians we need to have a heart of servant hood. This should be handled with the greatest care, in my judgment. Being receptive to other people and their beliefs are a big part of reaching people. I wonder how I would make a decision in those cases. Based upon this, regardless of their religion, social workers are to help everyone out in any way possible if there is a need. I really couldn't find any straight up answers to attitudes that should be given, but I know that the attitudes I form and show will be a result of my values, which have already been formed. It is important to help all people and your reaction could be the result of them getting better or worse. What my values are will determine how I handle and take a stance on a given situation. Throughout all of life we are constantly determining what we think is right, but if we just sit back and listen, we will find that we all have the same story. So sensitivity is defiantly the key. I can answer them because I have already established a set of values that I follow in life.
