JFK Assasination
"They admired his working personality, his lively presidency, and his timeless way, and they respected his courage in time of decision" (Patterson 42). These words describe one of the best leaders our nation has ever seen. In his presidency, John F. Kennedy had to keep us out of war during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and also deal with problems in Berlin. Within our country the president promoted civil rights, gave a tax cut to spur the economy, introduced Medicare, and promoted better education. The space program began to soar during his short term in office. Regarding space, Kennedy said, "First I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal before this decade is out of landing a man on the moon" (Patterson 42). Even though a bullet hit the brain, doctors say it was fairly well intact. Kennedy showed strong anti-communist views throughout his political career and it's possible that the Soviets felt threatened by him. He gave a speech at the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, which was followed by a parade to a market where he would deliver another speech. Booth ran from a theater to a warehouse, and Oswald ran from a warehouse of books and was caught near a theater. after a period of handing instruments and equipment to the doctors as needed, it was announced that the president had expired" (Smoking).
