John Dalton
John Dalton was an extraordinary English chemist and physicist. He produced many theories and discovered amazing doctrines throughout his life. In the next paragraphs, I will be discussing John Dalton's life and the events that occurred that contributed to our scientific world. John Dalton was born on September 6, 1766 at Eaglefield in Cumberland, England. Throughout his life, Dalton had a very interesting personality. He dressed a very different way, unlike others, because of his Quaker upbringing. He enjoyed lawn bowling and hanging out with his friends. He appeared to everyone as what we would call a nerd today. He was an individual and proud of it. Dalton was always dedicated to his studies and searching for the answers to scientific problems. Dalton's family were Quakers and impoverished. His grandfather, Jonathan Dalton, was a shoemaker and his father, Joseph Dalton, was a weaver. His mother, Deborah Greenup, married Joseph in 1755. His parents always tried to give the best to their three children in education and everyday life. Dalton went to school until he was twelve. He loved to learn. Dalton's physical aspect of the atom was later clarified by the work of Neils Bohr, Ernest Rutherford and many more. He could not see the scarlet color of a jacket that he was wearing. Different elements are chemically different. Dalton's work in chemistry led an understanding for stiochiometry. During the year of 1801, Dalton addressed an atomic theory of how air was not a complex substance but it was a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen. He was also one of the eight Foreign Associates. In 1788, he discovered the many colors and displays in the night sky that were caused by electrical disturbances. The conclusions from him and others resulted in that there must be an association between the aurora borealis and the earth's magnetic field. He ordered the elements onto a table in 1803. There he began teaching but after two years, when he was fourteen, he could not afford to live with the money that they were giving him so he went into farm work. In 1798, he sent a paper to the Memoirs regarding the scientific account of colorblindness. In 1822, Dalton was recognized as a fellow of the Royal Society. His theory helped refine both matters. To pay their final respects, more that forty- thousand people came to his deathbed. While Dalton was discovering and observing this unpredicted earth and teaching at the college, The Napoleonic wars were changing and becoming more controlled by all men of color, faith and belief.
