             The Bluest Eye
             Love is a strong affection for another person, especially of the other sex. The Bluest Eye depicts the tragic life of a young black girl, Pecola Breedlove, who wants nothing more than to be loved by her family and her schoolmates. She comes to the conclusion that the reason she is despised and ridiculed is that she is black, therefore, ugly. In result, Pecola turns her desire to be loved into a desire to have blue eyes and blond hair. At home she was put through the same thing, if not worse because her family members were the ones who were supposed to love her. Her mother was not able to conceal her obvious affection towards a white girl over her. One day as Pecola was visiting her mother at the home where she was working, Pecola accidentally knocked over a blueberry pie. Obviously burned by the hot pastry, her mother completely ignored Pecola's feelings of pain and instead tended to the comforting of the little white girl. Her mother viewed Pecola as an obstacle that had the potential to get in her way of her white charge's happiness and in result her happiness. Her mother refused to show any love to Pecola because it might interfere with more important things. For a little girl, the love of her mother is the most important love she can receive. Without that, how can she think that she is worth any thing at all? In the Bluest Eye love was perceived in three different ways. The first was the harsh but also loving way mothers cared for their children.
             Another was the love the children shared towards each other. The third was the love needed to become pregnant and then bring a baby into this world.
             All mothers made sure that their children knew right from wrong. They whipped and scolded their children for any little thing out of love. An example of this in " The Bluest Eye" was when Pecola had her first menses. Frieda and Claudia got caught trying
