Our Town The truth in this play by Thorton Wilder is actually quite simple,live your life the way you would want to be able to see it from above . This play is probably the single most easy play to follow . for any one. I think Our Town is so easy to follow because it is exactly that . "Our town". In this play you can probably find more characters than not that are similar to someone in your town. Every thing in this town can almost defiantly be related
Wilder is trying to give us a reality check with this play . That maybe all the after life is sitting around watching people go about their lives and seeing how you could have or maybe should have lived your life differently. Such as this very powerful line "do humans ever realize life while they live it ? -every , every minute?" I also think Mr. I feel that what the author is trying to convey to us, the readershipis that we should take a look at our life each and every day to be sure that we are leading our life the way we want and following the life plan we have unconsciously (or consciously ) set out for ourselves . He is trying to show us that life does go on for others after you die and that maybe the time we spend here , alive is the "heaven" of our whole being . Wilder trying convey this in many on Emily's statements near the end of the act 3 . This is a very powerful and popular play and I feel the reason this play is so well accepted by those who study it is becaus eit can so easily be related to our life. or matched to something in your town.
