Mirror explication

The "Mirror" is a poem that discusses the quality of the mirror and difficulty of seeing deeper into one's self. The speaker in the poem is the mirror, which describes itself in human-way form throughout the poem. The form of the poem is like a riddle. The mirror has a mind of its own, it tells us what it sees day by day. The mirror starts out saying, "I am silver and exact. I have no preconceptions."(1) This sentence shows that the author is describing the mirror as the speaker. The mirror belongs to a woman who wakes up everyday and looks at it hoping to see a young, beautiful reflection of herself. The mirror is pure in its reflection of the woman, "Just as it is, unmisted by love or dislike I am not crue

Since the candles and the moon are not so bright, they don't show her the whole vision of her face. "(7) "Faces and darkness separate us over and over. "(10-11) This presents the woman looking for her true identity inside her reflection. The woman does not like what she sees so, "she turns to those liars, the candles or the moon"(12), hoping for a better truth. "(3-4) Love or dislike cannot change the reflection the mirror will give and truth as it is reflected back to the woman can often be cruel or harsh but it is only truthful. "(15) It seems that the woman is constantly looking at herself. "(6) "I have looked at it so long, I think it is part of my heart. The mirror expresses its loneliness when he states, "Most of the time I meditate on the opposite wall. The ending is important because it shows the process of life and the reflection of aging physically or mentally. " (17-18) The woman is constantly searching for the young girl that she used to be and is hoping to find in the mirror. "In me she has drowned a young girl, and in me an old woman rises toward her day after day, like a terrible fish.
