How to Hunt a Deer

             Man has had a fundamental instinct to hunt wild game from a basic survival technique and as an art form for enjoyment. The knowledge and skills required for a successful hunt has marked the evolution of mankind through all ages.
             In these modern times, the art and science of the hunt has taken on many more dimensions. Before you prepare to go on a hunt, you must obtain a license. A hunter's education course and testing is required for safety purposes.
             The equipment required must be studied and planned in preparation for the particular game and environment which will be encountered. Camouflage is extremely important to conceal your presence in the natural surroundings. An orange vest and hat is required by law and allows other hunters to see you. A gun or bow is needed to take the deer. Ammunition for the weapon is required and must be counted and protected so that it will be functional when used. Proper clothing to protect the hunter from the weather and elements is essential. Warm clothing, gloves, insulated underwear, headgear, wool socks, face warmers may be life saving in hazardous conditions.
             A hunter must not wear cologne, perfume, or aftershave since deer have a very good sense of smell. The person must wash with soap and water since the human scent is the most alarming odor to wild game in their environment. A cover scent is optional, but may be used in pursuit of an especially wary game or to add confidence to the hunter.
             Land is necessary and it must be prepared for the hunt. Weeks before the hunt, corn, salt, minerals, or other nutrients must be applied to the area you wish to hunt. Food plots require plowing and preparation of the soil for planting soybeans, corn, clover, or turnip greens. Fertilizer and watering may be required to have a good show.
