cats and dogs
Pets are great companions to play with, go for walks with, talk to, and love. They are best friends to live our lives with. I have had several cats and dogs as my best buddies, and unique family members. To have a successful relationship with a pet requires some attention and consideration that many people do not realize. I have learned that cats and dogs have different needs for care, and love. My husband, Buddy, brought home a puppy, that he told me was a Danely breed, fifteen years ago. He played a cute trick on me. He knew that I would never want a giant horse of a dog in the house, so he lied, made up the name Danely, and told me not to worry, as a Danely is a miniature of the Great Dane breed. This Danely would not weigh over twenty pounds full grown, and would barely grow to the height of my knee. I believed his story, fell in love with this tiny black puppy that fit in my hands, and agreed to keep this Danely. We named him Junior, because he was so tiny, and cute. Junior grew, and grew, and grew some more. He grew into the giant horse of a dog that I feared. And his name seemed totally silly, but we liked it. Of course, by this time we were hooked, regardles
I named him "Arnie", for a character in one of my favorite movies, "What's Eating Gilbert Grape". He has gray tortoiseshell markings, that are placed irregular, and unevenly on his coat of fur, which make him look slightly odd and unusual, but still beautiful in a weird way. We also thought we would be able to keep our home in better condition, and get better sleep, since cats are smaller. However, they were his very favorite treat, and for Christmas, we stuffed a large bag of biscuits into a big stocking for him. He enjoyed watching us take a bath, or a shower. Arnie seems to just know we love him, and that sometimes we're tired or busy, so it's OK with him. We loved him, and tolerated the sleeping situation. He would then chase me around the house, like a peek-a-boo, tag, "you're it" game. His tail would sometimes knock things down, as if it were a mid-air weed-eater. Many times I would wake up, because Arnie was pulling my hair, which had become stuck in his teeth. He goes potty in his litter box very well. . We let him rip and root them open, then had to take them away, because he would have eaten every last one, until he became sick. Whenever we came home, from work, shopping, or errands, Junior would run to the door, stand erect, and bark with his whole entire body, his tail wildly flipping up and down, and round and round. He loved to play, and cuddle, and sleep.
