American Graffiti

Can you recall the very last night that you spent with your high school buddies beforepacking your bags up and leaving for college? The film American Graffiti can help yourevisit this night by recreating both the terrible and great times you once experienced. The film is based around a closely knit group of teenagers who will all be leaving eachother the next day while adventuring off in their separate directions. This gang ofteenagers, despite their differences, all go out together and share their last memorableevening together before splitting up. Many events take place during the course of this lastevening together. Throughout the night, friendships are strengthened, conflictingstruggles arise, and romances are created and disrupted. Curt Henderson who is a very intelligent man, faces several troubling conflicts. First,Curt must decide if he will accept a large scholarship he has won and attend an easterncoast college. The scholarship would financially help him out, but he begins to havedoubts about succeeding there, and would rather attend a local college. However, if heattends a local college, his best friend Steve who had been planning on attending the


This gang of teenagers, despite how their night started, allseemed to pull together at the end. After the waitress, Budda,extends an invitation to Steve to come over to her house and mess around, he realizesthat he truly doesn't want to date other women. After dropping Carol off, Milner immediatelyraces down to Paradise Road where he is going to settle who has the fastest car in townby drag racing Bob. Curt's heart throbs out for this gorgeous babe, and he is determined tochase her around all night and track her down. The events that occurred that night made each andevery one of them find their purpose in life. Another struggle arises whenCurt sees a long-blonde hair women driving a white thunder bird lip motion the words ILove You to him. Milnereventually comes up with a plan and starts talking to her as if he passionately loves herand wants to make love to her. Steve Balander, who is a high school jock, faces a major conflict too. Steve and her go back out into thecar while he tries to reconcile their relationship, but Laurie who is still upset, kicks himout of the car. Milner had finally proved thathe owned the fastest wheels in town. Unfortunately he receives a rudeawakening when this woman tells him that she can't meet him. John strongly tries to get rid ofCarol by finding out where she lives, but she refuses to tell him. The Toadrealized that his looks weren't everything when trying to find a girlfriend. ThePharaohs initiate Curt's final conflict. The couple then attend the Hop, where the heartbroken Laurie doesn't want anything to do with Steve.
