Type II diabetes has just started to interest me because one of my close friends has recently developed the disease. It was very odd because he started to lose weight very rapidly (20 lbs in 2 months, I believe.) And when he went to the doctor he was told that he had Type II diabetes. Those who are at risk can lower their chances of getting Type II by diet and exercise A study done by the DDP found that in a group of randomly chosen participants, ages twenty five through eighty five reduced their risk by 58 % just by doing thirty minutes of daily exercising, which mainly included walking. Of that sixteen million, 95 % have Type II diabetes. According to the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) diabetes affects sixteen million Americans. The bulk of people who are at risk for developing the disease are people who are overweight and who are over the age of forty-five.
