Involvement paper
Well I'm not really sure what you want for your involvement paper, so I'll just talk about some of my journal entries. Well I was brought up catholic so I have never really gave other religions much thought. I pretty much thought that they were all ridiculous to an extent. Which is why I'm taking your class. I want to be open minded so that i'm not so closed minded. So I can try to understand other religions as well. That's why I liked the movie whale rider. I enjoyed watching how other cultures in the world do things. I don't know if I could believe so highly in a whale but i'm sure if I was brought up that way I could. But the difference in their beliefs and mine is they believe in a whale which you can physically see and the whale rider as their leader. In Christianity we have to have faith since you cannot physically see god. So we don't believe in something you can see. And a
Well I hope I wrote what you asked for. Or like the Amish they live next to stores and stuff but they still chose to live how they did hundreds of years ago I mean its not quite hunter gatherer but they grow all there own food and don't have the luxuries the rest of us do like cars and electricity. That is the only vision quest that I am even semi familiar with cause my culture doesn't really do it to that extent i'm not even really sure what the other cultures do for there vision quests. Now the hunting is like a bonding for men or a father and son to go out and hunt together. I mean now there are grocery stores and stuff but they still go get the stuff for the most part. But my cousin about three years ago for his Mormon church he had to go to Idaho for his quest and he had to room with one other guy he was separated from his family for two and a half years only able to write a letter and call on mothers day. But you don't like leave away from home to find spiritual encounters. Another discussion we had we talked about the hunter and gatherers. But I guess in a way it's the same cause your culture really does intertwine with your religion. Sorry I was getting of the subject of religion and onto the subject of cultures. I mean the Catholics don't really have something like this other then like confirmation. This I found really interesting because it's still how it is in America in a way cause most men still like to go hunting.
