Too much homework

An excessive amount of homework has a negative effect on students' well being. Homework is defined as tasks assigned to students by school teachers that are meant to be carried out during non-school hours. Students who spend a great deal of time on their homework and don't have enough free time for them to relax is considered having too much homework. Satiation, denial of leisure time and community activities, parental interference, and cheating are the negative effects from excessive amount of homework. They can affect the well being of students, which can bring down their happiness, comfort and motivation. Requiring students to devote too much time to a subject can result in the student's lost of interest in acad

Too much homework can also lead to undesirable behaviors such as cheating. It only causes more fatigue for the students as well as time wasted. There is greater opportunity for students to cheat on homework, for example, through copying from other students, through having a tutor provide help beyond tutoring, or through taking completed assignments off of the Internet. Many critics debate that more homework is essential for better retention of factual knowledge, increased understanding, and to improve study habits and skills. Too much homework also generates physical and emotional exhaustion. Students are so busy doing their homework that they don't have enough free time to relax. Moreover, a number of studies have argued that there is no such thing as an excessive amount of homework, that it is all a figment of our imaginations, perhaps caused by too-busy students finding the normal requirements of homework difficult to squeeze in around the soccer, piano, gymnastics and martial-arts commitments or any other extra-curricular activities. Students often lose their motivation in school due to repetition of material from homework. However, if there is such a thing as excess extra-curricular activities, then we can also say there is such a thing as excess amount of homework. Students' life can be affected negatively by an excessive amount of homework. Excessive homework can also give students more pressure from parental interference. Though more homework may increase a student's knowledge and understanding, excessive amount of homework contains a lot of unnecessary work that is obstructive for students. Parental interference may exert an unhealthy amount of stress on students to complete assignments and perform well, and that may sometimes employ confusing instructional techniques. Students resort to these measures when they become fed up with the excessive amount of homework that they are assigned to do.
